Startup meeting

On 8th February, EUWelNet held its start-up meeting in the premises of the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the EU in Brussels. The meeting was attended by about 50 people including representatives of 23 (of a total of 26) partners. There were also representatives of the European Commission (DG SANCO and the Food and Veterinary Office) and the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).
During the day the Coordinator and the different Work Package leaders explained the approach taken in EUWelNet and the reasoning behind it.  The talks led to lively and positive discussions. We also discussed the important role of the Advisory Board which enables competent authorities from different Member States and other stakeholders to give input to the project activities and outcomes and to learn about and facilitate our progress.

A representative of the Commission further explained the context of the project as well as the Commission’s expectations and potential future developments. He was pleased with the approach we have adopted and the flying start the project team has made.
It was a very successful, enthusiastic and enjoyable meeting which will undoubtedly contribute to increased interaction and collaboration among partners. This team approach and the open discussion with the Commission clearly strengthen the collective effort and will thereby contribute to the successful execution of the project.
